Dr. Barnes is proactive and progressive in finding out the root cause of your problem to give a personalized treatment that works best for you. He thoroughly understands the biomechanics of running. I was having this nagging pain on my right leg (hip and quad area) during my first marathon training. He persistently treated what was causing the pain and helped me correct my running form. Now I’m able to enjoy running without these issues anymore. Thank you so much, Dr. Barnes!

“The most thorough examination I have ever had. Elements that influenced my pain that I had not even considered were discovered and treated. Dr. Chris Barnes is a true physician and healer. A very unique approach to treating people suffering from pain.”

“At the beginning of 2011, I made the New Year’s resolution to run my first full marathon. For the few months, my training went great. Then in June I started having severe pain in my right foot. When it became apparent that the standard icing and rest wasn’t going to fix the problem, I saw a doctor. He informed me that I was suffering from Plantar Fasciitis and gave me a night splint to wear while I slept and a prescription for an anti-inflammatory. I used both of these faithfully for about a month with no relief so I decided to get a second opinion. The second doctor confirmed the diagnosis and approved of the treatment I was currently undergoing, but said that it was very likely that I may have to shelf the goal of the full marathon and take up a different sport entirely. I was heartbroken, but my options seemed very limited. Not long after that I came across an article in Oklahoma Sports and Fitness magazine about Plantar Fasciitis written by Dr. Chris Barnes in Tulsa. Within a week of reading the article I was sitting in Dr. Barnes office for my initial exam. He was my last hope. The first thing he did was do a video analysis of my running form. We watched the video together and he was able to pinpoint the flaws in my form that were causing not only my foot issues, but other running injuries that I had been dealing with off and on. He recommended a one day ChiRunning class that would help address those issues and with every appointment he taught me different exercises and stretches to strengthen my problem areas. He used several different techniques in his office that focused solely on my foot pain and although those techniques were not always pleasant at the time, it did not take long to realize that they were working. After just a few visits, I realized that Dr. Barnes not only understands the body of an runner, but also the heart and soul. He never told me that I couldn’t run, instead he taught me how to do it correctly to minimize discomfort and injury. In November I completed my first full marathon and I credit it in large part to Dr. Barnes and his unique approach to sports medicine. With him in my corner, there is no distance too far.”

“I had been limping around, suffering greatly from a horrible case of plantar fasciitis for months when a friend of mine told me about a sports chiropractor in Tulsa. At first I thought, “A chiropractor?  Really?” I had already seen my doctor and podiatrist and experienced no relief, so I took a chance and made the four-hour drive to see Dr. Barnes.  When I limped into his office, Dr. Barnes greeted me with a big smile across his face. I, on the other hand, had not felt like smiling in months, and I was waiting for Dr. Barnes to send me into depression by telling me my running days were over. But he never did! In fact, he told me to sign up for a 5K in the near future because I was going to run in it!  He performed a very thorough examination of my posture, my structure, my running form, and, finally, my foot. I was introduced to several techniques that 1st visit, including one that Dr. Barnes himself created. At the time I wondered if they were going to have to wheel me out of there, but I will never forget the feeling I had instantly upon standing: Wow, I had no pain in my foot! What a relief to finally have relief! He taped it up, gave me an at home treatment regimen, and got me enrolled in a form running class.  Within a couple weeks, I was on the pavement again and began gradually increasing my distance and speed. I am now up to 20-25 miles per week and couldn’t be happier. There was a point where I thought that I would never run again. I am so lucky to have been introduced to this “chiropractor”. There truly is life after plantar fasciitis!”

“After having three babies naturally, I developed pelvic floor issues that interfered with running and lifting weights. Dr. Barnes was able to solve my issues in one appointment and I have been able to continue my training without any recurrence.”
-Jessica H-
“After having a baby this fall, I was experiencing not only athletic incontinence but severe pelvic pain when I tried to run. A few appointments with Dr. Barnes had me running pain free and leak free and able to accomplish my goal of running the Boston Marathon at only 5 months postpartum.”
-Elizabeth J-
“As a former, COMPLETE CHIROPRACTOR SKEPTIC, I can’t recommend Dr. Barnes enough. In the Fall of 2013, my chronic hip pain was keeping me awake at night and seriously hindering my running. Dr. Barnes’ techniques allowed me to have pain relief without having to take a break from running, and, more importantly, they helped me heal and strengthen weak and “lazy” muscles. I run better than I have in years. I’m SO GLAD I took a chance and made an appointment.”
-Quin H-
“Since I had my baby, every time I ran more than 3 miles while pushing her in the stroller, I couldn’t hold my bladder no matter how hard I tried. Dr. Barnes fixed that in one visit without having to even examine the area, which was great because I’m pretty modest. I just ran my first half marathon post-childbirth, and had no leakage – simply incredible!”
-Alisha B-
“I came to Dr. Barnes with low back and hip pain. One thing I didn’t mention was that I was getting up to go to the bathroom 5 times per night on average. In one session, I not only was able to overhead squat with less pain, I have only been going to the restroom one time per night for the last few months!
-Dan D-
“Over the years I decided running was something I wouldn’t be able to keep doing. Not because of your normal running injuries but because I couldn’t take more than a few strides without feeling like I had to go to the bathroom. I found myself panicking at the start of every long run/race and would plan my routes where the bathrooms were. During a visit with Dr. Barnes, he asked if I had any pelvic floor issues. I thought it was normal for a middle aged woman with children. Dr. Barnes explained that many women have the same issue, but that it wasn’t normal. After just one office visit the issue was solved. It’s been several months and I have not had a reoccurance. Who knew it could be so simple?! Now I look forward to going on long runs where ever I want and not worrying about where the closest bathroom is.”

-Crystal J-
“Dr. Barnes taped my leg (for knee pain) the day of my most recent race–for the first time in months I ran a 5k with NO knee pain. NO pain. I’m a believer!”
-Connie D-

“As his very first patient even when he was in school, Dr. Barnes has been treating me for several years and literally saved my running career from chronic issues such as IT Band syndrome. He treats the root of the problem, and his analysis of my running form and custom orthotics has helped me be a healthier runner. I would recommend Tensegrity to any athlete or anyone with chronic issues!”
-Kelsey W-

-Jared G-
“Dr. Barnes knows what’s up. He won’t just pop your back and send you on your way. He’ll show you what’s wrong, tell you why it’s wrong, and show you ways to prevent it from happening again, as well as restoring you to better condition than before you were originally hurt. Magical hands, this man has.”

“I  have been seeing Dr. Barnes for a running injury in my foot and from the very beginning he was totally dedicated and focused on getting me better and back to the sport I love. He is extremely knowledgeable about the various issues runners and other athletes encounter and continually seeking new methods of treatment. He has been collaborative in his approach from Day One and has provided not only in-office treatment to help alleviate pain and promote healing, but also looking at nutrition, at-home exercises and tools such as orthotics, taping and shoes which can greatly impact healthy running. Most importantly, he is a doctor that you know truly cares about getting you better and will stick with you, with good humor and encouragement, through the ups and downs of the healing process.”
